MORE ABOUT MCF'S ENDOWMENT FUND

I’m excited to share with you that Murray Christian Fellowship has created an Endowment for ministry to students while at Murray State.

A few years ago, one of the founding students of MCF, JK Henshaw, became the first to have memorials given to MCF on his behalf after passing away.  That caused me and the Board to stop and think about how to start honoring people like JK and also to have a vision and a plan for the future.

Since JK’s passing, there have been three other people set up memorials who were affiliated with MCF -  Glynn Mangold, another first generation MCF'er, being one of them.  Many people have given gifts in their memory. So this Endowment, this Legacy, this Inheritance, is alive and active and testifies to the promised eternal life we have in the Resurrection of Jesus and for those who have given - who live their lives for Jesus.

As a way to explain the Endowment, we have made a video presentation that helps tell a few aspects of the MCF story so that this Endowment has a context, a story to represent.  I hope you will be inspired by this story and see your part you have played in its formation over the decades ….

What a great story of love … of life shared .... of life lived as Family!

I’d like to share some further details:

As stated by Bill Call, the usable interest from the Endowment will be disbursed through scholarships for sure, maybe stipends for interns, or for special events/projects like conferences or continuing education experiences for staff.

For our 50th Anniversary in 2018 we gave MCF's first official scholarship to an MSU student from this Endowment!  And nearly every year since we have been able to give a student scholarship, all funded by this Endowment.  In 2021 we officially named the scholarship the Brenda and Bill Call Scholarship of Support. Isn’t that wonderful?

You can personally be a part of this by contributing to the Endowment, now with a gift, or you can plan by writing into your life insurance policy or in estate planning an amount or percentage to go to MCF’ Endowment.  I’d be happy to talk with you personally more about this.

Just so you are not turned off by this or misunderstand me as giving some fundraising speech, I am convinced that God has woven our lives together to care for one another. God has entrusted to us resources and relationships that will build up His kingdom, that will influence, shape, and form His children.  As with the practice of Inheritance we find in scripture, GOD made/shared an everlasting Covenant with us and has promised to care for us, provide for us.

Listen to the description of the first generation church found in Acts 2

The Believers Form a Community

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the

apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship,

and to sharing in meals, and to prayer.

43 A deep sense of awe came over them all,

and the apostles performed many

miraculous signs and wonders.

44 And all the believers met together in one place

and shared everything they had.

45 They sold their property and possessions

and shared the money with those in need.

46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day,

met in homes for the Lord’s Supper,

and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—

47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people.

And each day the Lord added to their fellowship

those who were being saved.

THE greatest Legacy, Inheritance, Tradition, Trust, Endowment we have is found in the promises from our Lord Jesus Christ, who through his sacrifice and sharing his body and blood for our forgiveness, life and salvation.  That is something worth remembering, celebrating and passing on to generation to generation.

Again, thank you so much for your continued support.

-Mike Kerrick, Campus Minister
